I frequently receive email pictures which I can not open. I get a box with a red star in corner. How do I open

If you are using Outlook there is a setting you might have selected.

Go to TOOLS;OPTIONS Under the security tab look for "Download Images" and make sure that the box for "Block images and other external content in HTML email" is not checked.

Don't worry about all these virus scares. The chance of getting one in an email via a picture is so very very slim. If you do ever get a virus, just clean it, its not a big deal.

If its a particular kind of email with 3 such crosses next to each other, please note that it is spurious - you'll be better off deleting the mail ASAP.

However, if the mail is from a trusted source and you have no reason to suspect the contents of the mail, either viewing of the image is restricted on your computer for some reason or the image is not present at the location it was supposed to be. In the first case, try opening the mail on another PC (preferably) from another location and seeing if you get lucky. In the second case, ask the sender of the mail to check with the image that s/he is trying to send via the mail. Probably ask for the mail to be sent again.
Reply:do you hve a flash player,if not install it ,its available for free on the interenet. and if you have one then those pictures most likely can be the viruses so better stay away from them....be well
Reply:Scan the pics to make sure they aren't infected. If they are not, try right clicking on the area where the pic should come and select-show picture. If that doesn't work, and have the sender resend them to you.
Reply:Either that or you do not have the proper platform to open them. Adobe, PDF files or maybe you do mnot have WORD, and they are word documents.Windows media or some other of that type program. It depend on what type of files they are and if you have the necessary programs to open them and that the programs are properly installed and configured to view those type files..

.
Reply:DONT OPEN. THEY ARE VIRUSES AND THE SYSTEM HAS SCANNED THEM AND BLOCKED THEM FROM APPEARING IN YOUR EMAIL.

IT MAY HAVE BEEN SENT BY SOME ONE YOU KNOW. BUT IF THE PICS DONT SHOW UP, SIMPLY DELETE THE EMAIL.
